**Inonotus obliquus (Chaga) Mushroom Plugs for Growing Mushrooms on Live Birch or Alder Trees**

**Kit Includes:**
1. 30 Chaga inoculated mushroom plugs (10x40 mm) in a microfilter bag.

2. Growing instructions.

3. Drill bit to drill holes

Mushroom plugs, also known as plug spawn, offer a convenient and accessible method for cultivating mushrooms on live trees. These plugs can be refrigerated for up to six months and exhibit low susceptibility to contamination and infections, making them an excellent choice for mushroom farming. The process does not require specialized equipment.

**Instructions for Optimal Results:**

  1. **Tree Selection:** Choose a healthy birch or alder tree with a diameter of 10-40 cm and a length of 50-100 cm
  2.  **Drilling Holes:** Select areas on the tree trunk where the bark is thinner. Drill holes 5-10 mm deeper than the mushroom spawn at intervals as high up on the trunk as possible. It is not critical whether the spawn is on the shaded or sunny side.
    3. **Spawn Quantity:**
        - For a tree with a diameter of 10 cm, use approximately 3-4 spawns.
        - For a tree with a diameter of 15 cm, use about 4-6 spawns.
        - For a tree with a diameter of 20 cm, use 8-10 spawns.

    4. **Sterility:** Ensure sterility during installation. Clean rubber gloves with disinfectant, place the spawn in the hole, and hammer it until level with the tree surface. Regularly clean gloves, hammer tip, and drill to prevent contamination.

    5. **Timing:** Spawn can be planted year-round. The best time is before the summer heat to avoid stressing the tree. Spawns can also be planted before winter, allowing the mushroom to start growing with the spring sap movement.

**Additional Notes:**
- Use opened package spawns within the same day to prevent contamination.
- Use unopened package spawns before the expiration date.
- Avoid letting spawns sit for too long, as they may become hard and difficult to break apart or too soft and challenging to drill into.

By following these steps, you can successfully cultivate Chaga mushrooms on live birch or alder trees, ensuring a bountiful and healthy mushroom harvest.
